With "Skull 27-23," I did not want to sculpt a realistic flower, but rather the very idea of life reclaiming its rights. Here, the rose is suggested: it emerges from the skull structure in the form of a metal movement, an organic abstraction rising toward the light. It is an allegory of rebirth where death has no hold on the vital impulse that has just been born, illuminated by the dew of a dawning morning materialized by drops of bronze.
The contrast is striking between the solid base of the skull in steel lace and this ascending, fluid, and poetic form that evokes the fragility of a petal without ever freezing it in descriptive realism.
