With this metal woman sculpture, I wanted to convey the power of the lyrical voice, giving shape to a presence that unfolds in space like an opera song.
A sculpture in the round conceived as a stage
In Pavarti Cantatrice, the sculpture is designed in the round, which allows a complete reading of the body in motion. Walking around it, the perception changes, as if dance and singing evolve according to the viewpoint.
This approach echoes opera: a total stage presence, where nothing is fixed. The body seems carried by an inner energy, like a vibration. The sculpture does not just represent a woman, but an interpretation, a moment suspended between breath and expression.
Metal lace: sculpting the voice
Made of steel and bronze using a drip fusion technique, the metal lace allows working both the material and the void.
This openwork structure captures light and gives a sense of diffusion, as if the singer’s voice spreads around her. The veils and openings extend the body and contribute to this impression of radiance.
Steel structures the silhouette, while bronze brings warmth and intensity. Together, they create a work where the material becomes vibration, where the sculpture almost reaches the realm of sound.
