With It’s Only Gold, I wanted to explore the idea of preciousness in its most sensual and subtle form.
This sculpture is a female bust created using my metal lace technique, where bronze unfolds like a delicate, almost textile weave.
The metal opens up, fragments, allowing light to flow like a breath. The body then gently appears, as if revealed through a veil.
The sculpture is entirely covered with 24-carat gold leaf. The gold transforms the material into a living radiance, revealing every relief and vibration of the bronze lace. It is not just a precious metal, but a light that inhabits the sculpture.
I like that this piece evokes several worlds at once: that of jewelry, of course, through its brilliance and delicacy, but also that of table refinement, wine, and rare delicacies. Like a fine vintage savored slowly, the work is gradually discovered.
During an exhibition, this sculpture engaged in a dialogue with a photograph placed behind it. This encounter created an unexpected association between the image, the body, and the golden material, as if the sculpture itself became a living adornment.
With It’s Only Gold, I wanted the gold to become almost a visual flavor:
a sensual radiance where femininity, light, and desire meet.
