"With this sculpture, I wanted to return to the origins of the sacred: a silhouette of a primitive idol reinterpreted by metal lace, where the immutable strength of ancient times meets the fragile lightness of contemporary breath."

An archetypal silhouette between earth and sky

In Idole, the form pays tribute to the earliest female representations in art history. This sculpture stands upright, hieratic, possessing the magnetic presence typical of ancient cult objects. It is not a simple representation of a woman, but a symbol of fertility, protection, and mystery.

The verticality of the work imposes silence. By working this compact and powerful form, I sought to capture the essence of a "presence" that spans millennia. It is a piece that anchors the space, acting as a modern totem that seems to have been unearthed from an ancient future.

Steel and bronze: the erosion of time sculpted

The work of metal lace by drop-by-drop fusion takes on a very particular meaning here: it evokes the wear of time and erosion. The material seems to disintegrate while remaining structurally powerful, creating a dialogue between what remains and what has faded away.

Steel brings this mineral solidity, while touches of bronze dress the idol with a precious, almost ritual skin. The play of transparency allows light to pass through the body, as if the spirit of the idol still inhabited this metal frame. It is a work of contrasts: the density of the symbol against the transparency of the openwork metal.

Learn more about the sculpture "Idole"

What is the inspiration behind the sculpture Idole? This work is inspired by primitive statuettes and Cycladic or prehistoric idols. It explores the concept of the original "Venus," simplified to its essential lines to become a universal symbol.

How does the metal lace technique serve this subject? Metal lace allows transforming a traditionally massive form (stone or terracotta of ancient idols) into a light and airy structure. It evokes the passage of time and the persistence of the spirit despite the fading of the material.

What materials are used for this work? The Idole is made of steel and bronze. Steel offers robustness and a raw appearance, while bronze brings a precious and timeless dimension, reminiscent of ritual objects from the Bronze Age.

How to display this sculpture at home? Thanks to its metal lace design, the Idole changes appearance depending on the lighting. Placed near a light source or a light-colored wall, it will cast complex shadows that extend its presence in the room.

Is the sculpture signed? Yes, each piece is a unique creation, handmade in my studio. It is signed on the base and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
