With The Splendor of Time, I continue my work with the female figure and my metal lace technique. The bust seems to emerge gradually from a network of steel and bronze. The interlacing shapes the volumes while allowing light to pass through. Openings, reliefs, and branching forms give the figure a singular presence, at once assertive and mysterious.

I love working with this material, which makes it possible to build a form without enclosing it within a solid surface. Steel brings strength and character, while bronze introduces warmer tones. The two metals meet in a composition where every irregularity contributes to the bust's expression. Depending on the viewing angle and lighting, some details appear while others blend into the whole. This contemporary wall sculpture is therefore not limited to a fixed image: it invites you to look closely at the material and gradually discover its richness.

A sculpted frame between antique splendor and contemporary creation

Around the bust, I envisioned a partial frame composed of arabesques, scrolls, and ornaments that evoke the richness of antique frames. I wanted the frame itself to be a sculpture, not just a decorative element. Its fragments seem to have weathered time, preserving the memory of past splendor while blending into a decidedly contemporary creation. The frame complements the female figure, emphasizes her presence, and extends her story into the space on the wall.

I chose to highlight certain lines with gold metallic leaf. Its reflections contrast with the dark areas of the steel. These luminous accents evoke the nobility of antique ornaments without seeking to erase the traces and irregularities of the material. The Splendor of Time has a relief that plays with light and cast shadows.
