With this metal face sculpture, I wanted to bring out a human presence from fragments, between appearance and disappearance.
A face between presence and disappearance
In Le Blond, the face is never fully defined. It appears through a metal lace, as if forming before our eyes without ever solidifying. The features are suggested rather than drawn, allowing for a shifting perception. This approach lets me work not on the portrait, but on presence: something alive, unstable, almost elusive, depending as much on the gaze as on the material.
Three metals for the same light
Steel, bronze, and brass together compose a sculptural language. Steel structures and anchors the face in darker areas, bronze brings organic warmth, while brass introduces bright highlights close to gold. The sculpture is made by fusing metal drop by drop, creating an openwork framework where light flows freely. It is this light that reveals the face, transforms it, and gives it an almost living dimension.

What does the sculpture Le Blond represent?
The sculpture represents a human face suggested through an openwork structure. It is not a realistic portrait but a presence emerging from the material.
What materials make up this sculpture?
The sculpture is made of steel, bronze, and brass. Each metal plays a specific role: structure, warmth, and light.
Why use three different metals?
The combination of three metals creates a unique visual richness. Steel provides depth, bronze gives a living texture, and brass adds bright accents close to gold.
What technique is used to create this sculpture?
The sculpture is made of metal lace, created by melting metals drop by drop. This technique creates an openwork structure that makes each piece unique.
Why does the face seem incomplete or fragmented?
The face is intentionally fragmented to allow for interpretation. The voids contribute as much as the material to the construction of the image.
What is the role of light in this work?
Light passes through the metal lace and transforms the perception of the face. Depending on the angle and lighting, the sculpture changes and reveals new expressions.
