"With this metal lace woman sculpture, I wanted to capture the suspended moment of passage: that tipping point where the body seems to hesitate between the arriving light and the fleeing shadow, like an apparition at the threshold of the world."
A silhouette suspended between two worlds
In The Thresholds of the Day, the female bust is no longer just a physical form; it becomes an allegory of time. The posture evokes a transition, a movement of passage. It is unclear whether this woman is coming toward us or gently fading away, creating a fascinating narrative tension that captivates the gaze.
The metal lace structure enhances this feeling of immateriality. The body seems to form or dissolve before our eyes, evoking the fragility of the present moment. It is a work of meditation, a silent presence that invites contemplation of passing time, never to be grasped.
Bronze and steel: the bite of light
The chromatic work is central here: the shoulders are highlighted with bronze, capturing the light to simulate the solar glow of the day's "thresholds" (dawn or dusk). This metallic lighting gives the impression that the sculpture is struck by a grazing ray, emphasizing the pride of the head carriage and the curve of the shoulders.
The drip casting technique creates a striking contrast between the strength of dark steel and the precious warmth of bronze. Light passes through the metal lace, casting complex shadows that change throughout the day in your interior. The sculpture thus becomes an emotional sundial, changing its face according to the ambient light.

Learn more about the sculpture "Les Seuils du Jour"
What is the meaning of the title "Les Seuils du Jour"? The title refers to the transitional moments of dawn and dusk. The sculpture explores the idea of passage, of a body that seems to "appear" or "disappear" depending on the angle from which it is viewed.
Why is the bronze concentrated on the shoulders? Bronze is used as a source of artificial light. Placed on the shoulders, it simulates the glow of the rising or setting sun, highlighting the anatomical structure and bringing symbolic warmth to the steel.
What technique is used for this transparency? It is metal fusion drop by drop. By depositing molten metal point by point, I create a lace of steel and bronze that plays with emptiness, making the sculpture both sturdy and visually light.
How does light influence the artwork? It is a living sculpture. Thanks to its openwork mesh, it interacts with its environment: its texture and intensity change depending on whether the light is natural, artificial, or dimmed.
Is this a unique and signed piece? Yes, each sculpture is an original and unique creation. It is hand-signed by the artist and comes with a certificate of authenticity confirming its origin and artistic value.
