Papillon: The Metal Fairy of a Thousand Colors
With "Papillon," I wanted to capture that moment of absolute grace when the insect becomes a pure symbol. This sculpture stands at the boundary between the natural world and the magical: it is a butterfly ready to take flight, but it is also a silhouette evoking the delicate posture of a fairy. Its wings, crafted in an extremely fine metal lace, are not just physical structures; they are vessels of light and poetry.
For this piece, I explored a palette with a thousand reflections, playing with oxidations and pigments to bring to life a vibrant chromatic brilliance. The dripping technique creates organic veins that seem to still pulse. Between the strength of steel and the lightness of breath, this butterfly is a celebration of metamorphosis and freedom. A work from the Intimate range that adds a touch of magic and color, like a dream of a fairy garden frozen in the eternity of metal.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
Why this comparison with a "fairy"? The verticality of the posture and the very slender cut of the wings recall the imagery of woodland creatures. It is not just a naturalistic study; it is a dreamlike interpretation where the butterfly becomes a protective and enchanted presence.
How are the "thousand colors" on the metal achieved? The colors arise from precise work on the metals: I use melting temperatures to create natural iridescence (bluing of the steel) which I sometimes enhance with pigments or tinted varnishes to accentuate this "flying jewel" aspect.
Can the sculpture be hung or placed? Thanks to its light design, the butterfly 56-25 can be delicately placed on a support or fixed in a way that gives the illusion of flight. Its transparency allows light to cast colored and lacy shadows on its surroundings.
Is this a unique work? Yes, absolutely. Each butterfly is an original signed creation. The distribution of colors and the mesh of the lace are the result of a unique manual fusion gesture, making each piece strictly exclusive.
How to care for this colorful sculpture? The work is protected by a high-quality professional varnish that fixes the colors and protects the steel. A simple light dusting with a very soft-bristled brush is enough to preserve the full brilliance of its wings.
