"With this sculpture, I wanted to transform the male body into a stroke of living ink: a calligraphy of steel and bronze lace where deep violet highlights the fluidity of the gesture, between the discipline of yoga and the momentum of dance."
The body as a sign: the poetry of pure movement
In this work, the male silhouette frees itself from its mass to keep only the essential: the curve and the tension. I sought to capture that precise moment when the body, engaged in a yoga pose or a dance movement, becomes a calligraphic figure, a sign drawn in the air. The arch and extension of the torso evoke extreme flexibility, transforming rigid metal into a fluid and harmonious line. It is a piece that celebrates the balance between physical strength and the spirituality of the gesture, bringing graphic elegance and an airy presence that seems to dance with the surrounding emptiness.
Steel, bronze, and violet: a unique chromatic writing
The originality of this sculpture lies in its contrast of textures and colors, blending the dark structure of steel with the warm reflections of fused bronze. The addition of deep violet pigments punctuates the mesh, bringing a mysterious and regal dimension to the silhouette, while guiding the eye along the body's lines of force. The metal lace technique allows light to pass through the refined musculature, creating shadow plays that extend the calligraphy onto your walls. Each piece is a rigorously unique creation, signed and certified, where the sculptor’s gesture immortalizes the fluidity of a moment of grace.

FAQ
Why use the term “Calligraphy” for this male sculpture? The title refers to the search for the pure line. The body is treated here like an oriental writing character, where each curve and tension has a precise meaning, transforming anatomy into a graphic symbol of flexibility and life.
What is the symbolism of violet in this work? Violet is traditionally associated with spirituality, transformation, and wisdom. In this sculpture, it highlights areas of tension and movement, reminding us that the physical practice of yoga or dance is above all an inner journey and an elevation of the spirit.
How does metal lace suggest dance? The void is as important as the solid. By using drop-by-drop fusion, I create an openwork structure that is weightless. Light passes through the body, giving it a lightness that evokes the dancer’s weightlessness or the yogi’s deep breath in full stretch.
Where to display this piece to highlight its graphic aspect? It pairs perfectly with a clear, uncluttered wall that will serve as a blank page for its silhouette. Side lighting will cast its calligraphic shadow, doubling the presence of the work and enhancing the sense of movement in the room.
Is this a unique piece despite its “I” number? Yes, absolutely. The number indicates it is part of a thematic exploration of calligraphy, but the handmade manufacturing process guarantees that no other sculpture will have exactly the same mesh or distribution of violet pigments. It is signed and comes with its certificate.
