With this sculpture, I wanted to capture the essence of a fascinating animal, on the border between the real and the mythical. Since Antiquity, the salamander has been a symbol of resistance to flames, a being capable of passing through fire without burning. This steel lace sculpture embodies this alchemical breath: it seems both born from the fire of fusion and to retain the cold clarity of metal, illustrating this constant dialogue between hot and cold.
The silhouette is crafted using dripping (drop-by-drop fusion), creating an openwork skin that evokes both the amphibian’s scales and the vibrations of light. Set on its raw wood base, it symbolizes the union of elements: metal born from fire, air flowing through its lace, and wood connecting it to the earth.
