Scorpion 18-1: The Graphic Essence of Instinctive Strength
With this work, I wanted to strip the Scorpio sign of all artifice to keep only the guiding line, its pure architecture. This sculpture stands out for its very graphic treatment, where the runic "M" line unfolds with surgical precision before closing on its emblematic stinger. I sought to transform this water sign into a nervous, almost calligraphic structure that seems to split space with absolute determination.
The combination of steel and bronze, worked in dripping (drop-by-drop fusion), accentuates the contrast between the rigor of the design and the vibration of the material. The metal lace lets emptiness flow, highlighting each angle and curve with a unique intensity. This sculpture is a piece from the Intimate range that brings a touch of radical modernity and character to your interior, celebrating the power of the line and the clarity of the gesture.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
How does this "graphic" version differ from other Scorpios? Here, the emphasis is on the tension of the line. This sculpture favors a slender silhouette and well-defined segments, giving it a more contemporary and abstract look. It is the Scorpio in its most intellectual and stylized form, a symbol of focus and precision.
How does the dripping technique adapt to a graphic style? It is a work of high precision. By controlling the drop-by-drop fusion, I manage to draw a metal thread that remains "clean" while preserving the organic texture of the lace. The result is a work that looks like it was drawn with metal ink, combining the spontaneity of fire with the rigor of the symbol.
What are the respective roles of steel and bronze here? The gray steel ensures structural integrity and an industrial finish, reinforcing the graphic aspect of the piece. Bronze is used to highlight strategic points of the symbol (the stinger, the joints), bringing warm light reflections that break the coldness of the steel and energize the gaze.
Is this a unique work? Absolutely. While the graphic design is controlled, the internal mesh of the lace is the result of an irreproducible fusion. The 18-1 piece is entirely handmade, without any mold, signed Philippe Buil and accompanied by its certificate of authenticity.
How should this Scorpio be displayed to highlight its graphic aspect? Placed against a white wall or on a contrasting background, this sculpture will reveal all its linear power. Bright lighting will create extremely sharp cast shadows, acting as a second calligraphy on your walls and thus doubling the visual impact of the work.
